HR Management

Workplace Strategies offers human resource management services on two distinct levels.

Assistance for HR Departments

For larger clients, our services take the form of supporting internal human resource departments as a third-party advisor. We routinely assist HR Departments to:

• implement performance appraisals programs that are tailored to the needs of the organisation;
• draft and introduce workplace policies, regulating areas such as grievance & disciplinary procedures, sexual harassment, leave policies, drug & alcohol issues, bursary agreements, travel policies and staff loan agreements;
• manage poor performance and disciplinary issues; and
• chair internal disciplinary hearings.

Outsourced HR Manager

For employers in the SME sector who need competent human resource management but lack the resources to retain a full-time HR Manager, we provide an outsourced-HR Manager to take control of human resource management within the organisation.

Workplace Strategies will provide an experienced HR practitioner to commit a fixed number of hours to a HR Unit each month. The exact number of hours are agreed with the organisation and are dependent on affordability and the company’s human resource requirements.

We work with clients to establish short-term and long-term goals and objectives of the HR Unit.

Short-term objectives often include:

• providing advice on labour law and employment law issues;
• reviewing existing employment agreements and amending where required;
• implementing appropriate workplace policies;
• establishing effective recruitment and selection strategies;
• assisting supervisors with performance management processes;
• chairing internal disciplinary hearings
• chairing of management meetings; and
• managing employee inductions and performance reviews.

Long-term objectives often include:

• assessing skills development and training needs;
• conducting training programs on labour law and related issues;
• assisting the organisation to determine the operational strategy of the business;
• implementing medical aid and provident scheme funds;
• implementing employee strategic planning initiatives; and
• coaching and mentoring of key personnel.
